1. The Nazis are looking for Jews. They almost find out that Ellen is a Jew but then Annemarie's dad saves Ellen from being killed
1. Annemarie Ellen and Kristi are coming running home from school . Then they run into to Nazis they ask them why they are running and Annemarie says they are practicing for their school race. The Nazis let them go but said not to run again. They go home and Kristi tells thier mom what happened and she got mad and said to take the long way to school next time.
chapter 3 synopsis
A button on Kirsti's coat broke so Annemarie went to Mrs. Hirsch's shop to buy a new button. When she got there no one was there. So they went home and told their mom. She thought that some thing was fishy why would she be missing she was always there . Peter told them that the Nazis are trying to kill all the Jews. It was a Jewish holiday when Rosens had to split up Ellen came to Annemarie's house and her parents went to someones house that peter knew.

4-5 synopsis Ellen and Annemarie where in bed when there was a knock on the door. Annemaries dad opened it there was three Nazi shoders. They just came storming in. They checked the whole house for jews . They went into Annemaries room and questioned ellen. Annemaries dad showed them a picture of lise when she was little. The only reason it work was because lise had dark hair when she was little.
6 synopsis Ellen and Annemaries family go on a train to go to their uncles house when they are on the train two Nazis come on two their car. they ask them where they are headed and why. they tell them they are going to their uncles house. When they get off the train they had to walk two miles to get there

when they got there they went in side and made them selfs at home. When uncle Henrick comes home he tells them that their great aunt brite. had died but annemarie did not belive him. After, annemarie asked him why he lied He said that you can be more brave if you do not know every thing but know what you need to know. They had a fake funnral for her great aunt alot of people came over and started to pray for her but they knew it was fake to. Headlights came trough the window. there was a knock on the door an d a few nazis came in they told them why there was so many people in their house he said it was for a funnral. the nazis asked to see the coffin so they let them see it. Then they aked them to open it but mama said that the docter told them that she had a sickness and said not to open it so the nazis left
12-14 synopsis
they open the coffin and there is coats and blankets peter starts to hand them out. Peter gives mr. rosen a packet and tells him to give it to henrick. When they were walking out Mr. Rosen tripped on the stair then they kept going they got to the boat safe then Annemarie's mom came back to the house she tripped on a root. when Annemarie woke up she saw something moving out the window and realized that it was her mom on the ground. she went to get her. When she got to her she said that her ancel was broken annemarie helped her limp to the door. She saw that there was a packet on the ground. Her mom said that it was important and that annemarie has to run to the boat and give it to henrick.
15-17 synopsis
Annemarie gets the packet to Henrick and he tells her to go home and that you did a good job. When Annemarie gets back and then Henrick gets back for taking the jews to sweaden. he tells her all that happend and that the jews hid in a secret area of the boat. Also thatthe pacet had a hancercif and that it roend the dogs seant.
